To be able to execute their role effectively, Senators create policies and legislation, draft and debate bills and determine budget allocations and oversight.

Machakos Senate hopeful Henry Carlos Kioko while addressing his campaign team and volunteers in a Nairobi Hotel sunday revealed that his research team has finalised compiling ten key issues that will secure additional Sh5 billion.

“I am pleased to announce Machakos will secure additional Sh5 billion for its citizens progress," he said.

“I also applaud the work by the team led by Gilbert Jomo our Elections Risk Expert and Head of Research.” Kioko added that he will also prioritize on international donors and investor relations to attract more funding.

"This can only be achieved when a senator thinks out-of-the box, the people of Machakos need change and I shall selflessly be the voice they deserve," Kioko popularly known as Senator Carlos said.

He said the Sh5 billion will help establish community libraries in all eight constituencies and invest in more classrooms and bursaries under his plan Education for all.

Additionally, the funds will support Amatuer Sports and Talent development Fund, Investment Fund for Persons living with HIV, Persons with Disabilities and free tampons for school children.

"We're drafting bills to actualize our progressive vision," he said adding that he will work with the county executive and all leaders to seek solutions to rural communities prosperity.

"We must ensure equal pattern of growth in the rural area to reduce poverty," he said. He said to accelerate rural economy, we must supply clean water, build local investors, embrace community sustainability concepts and host rural innovation forums to engage our people. We must breath life back into our rural communities he told his team.

"We are investigating the possibility of a fund for rural prosperity to improve the lives of people living in rural by enabling agribusiness to begin to expand," he said.

"The fund will seek to support farmers and projects that are creative, impactful and sustainable," affirms Gilbert Jomo.

Kioko said smallholder farmers makeup to 65 percent of the electorate and largely excluded from economic growth. He said he will be unveiling other key issues like unemployment, small business economy, environment and aged persons during his campaign launch to be announced.
