Governor William Kabogo has downplayed the new alliance formed by five aspirants seeking to unseat him in the August 8 general election.
Kabogo says that he is not afraid of competitors who have declared interest in the gubernatorial seat.
The controversial Kiambu governor instead want his rivals to prepare for a tough battle at the ballot in August.
Speaking during a meet the people tour in Ruiru Town on Wednesday, Kabogo dismissed the new formed alliance between Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu, real estate tycoon David Gakuyo, James Nyoro, John Mugwe and businesswoman Njoki Gathendu saying that he can never be scared by the competitors.
“It is ridiculous and funny for some people to start claiming that Kabogo is afraid of losing the governor seat,” he said.
Governor Kabogo exuded confidence in retaining the seat stating that his development track record will give him votes in the August 8 polls.
“I want to urge Kiambu people not to be fooled by some politicians whose only agenda is to cause tension and threats,” added Kabogo.
On Saturday last week, five aspirants eyeing to unseat Kabogo vowed to work together.
The aspirants led by Waititu accused Kabogo’s administration f failing to deliver its mandate.
Governor Kabogo is seeking re-election in the August polls and political analysts observe that the Kiambu gubernatorial race will be between Kabogo and Waititu.
