Former Judiciary Registrar and Uasin Gishu Woman Representative hopeful Gladys Boss Shollei has pledged to step down in the event the courts find her unfit to serve in public office.
She was reacting to recommendations by a lobby group that sought to have her blocked from vying alongside 20 other politicians seeking different elective seats.
“It is not their business to write and change the law by heckling in the media. They should follow the right channel in amending the law instead of shouting (so as) to remain relevant to raise funds from wherever they get (them) from,” Shollei said while making reference to civil society groups.
“They should stop being busybodies and ensure that the court [cases] on charges facing us are fast-tracked. [I am] are ready to step down if found guilty,” she added.
Speaking on Tuesday shortly after presenting her nomination papers to IEBC, Shollei said she was optimistic of winning the seat during the forthcoming general elections.
“This closes the conversation of my enemies who thought I won't be cleared. We will campaign…as we seek to get 98 per cent endorsement from the electorate,” she noted.
Shollei will be vying on a Jubilee Party ticket.
