Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has assured the Kalenjin community that he fully supports Deputy President William Ruto’s leadership and presidential ambition for 2022.
Kabogo who spoke during the burial of DP’s younger brother at Kamagut in Turbo on Wednesday asked the Kalenjins to ignore people who he said are keen to create enmity between him and the Deputy President.
Kabogo said that Ruto is his personal friend and can never afford to make him an enemy.
“I am firmly in line with the leadership of Ruto and we will work together as leaders and as friends,” said the Kiambu Governor.
Kabogo was recently on the spot after he made remarks insinuating that it was not automatic Mt Kenya will support DP in 2022.
Kabogo however refuted the claims saying that he was misquoted.
The Kiambu governor’s remarks were criticized by leaders in Mt Kenya and Rift-Valley asking him to apologize to the DP.
Ever since the alleged remarks, Kabogo has been close to the Deputy President attending several state functions hosted by the DP.
On Sunday Kabogo hosted Ruto in Kiambu and attended a church service in Kabete before addressing residents.
There have been claims that Kabogo was bracing up to be DP Ruto’s running mate in 2022.
