Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba has said that he will table a motion in Parliament for seeking compensation for Western Kenya's Dini ya Msambwa freedom fighters.
Speaking on Sunday, Namwamba said that if the Jubilee government were true in their Tuko Pamoja slogan, they had to apply it impartially to all Kenyans and not just to people from a select region.
"I am going to table the motion when Parliament resumes next month for Dini ya Msambwa to be compensated too," he said on Sunday.
"The compensation must be applied for all Kenyans who were tortured by the British colonial forces, not only those from Mt Kenya," he continued.
It is said that Dini ya Musambwa founder Elijah Masinde spent some time in detention in Kapenguria alongside other fighters including Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
In 2013, the British government pledged Sh2.6 billion as compensation to the freedom fighters after some 5200 Mau Mau fighters won their compensation case against Britain.
