According to The Standard, Mung'aro said that he also intended to ensure that Coast comes back under the Jubilee fold even after Mombasa governor Hassan Joho appeared to have wooed the region into ODM.

Speaking at his Watamu home on Thursday, the legislator revealed that he wanted to bring the coast region closer to power as evidenced in his recent steering of key defections from ODM to Jubilee.

“After Jubilee Party, the next move will be to go round to explain why we joined Jubilee and how it will benefit our people. I will lead my team which includes Governor Mvurya and Governor Timamy in a spirited campaign in Mombasa beginning with Likoni and Kisauni. I will prove who between Joho and I has a bigger following in Coast,” Mung’aro said.

He was accompanied by MPs Mustafa Idd (Kilifi South), Peter Shehe (Ganze), Khatib Mwashetani (Lungalunga), Zainab Chidzuga (Kwale women representative), senators Mvita Kisasa and Emma Mbura, former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana among others.

They vowed to make Mung'aro their leader at the coast.

“We have chosen Mung’aro as our leader because he is brave and offers the much needed organised politics. We also recognise the fact that Kilifi has always been the heart of Coast leadership since the time of Ronald Ngala,” said Mung’atana.
