The ODM governor joins Deputy President William Ruto, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kakamega counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya in the list of those who have made public their desire to vie for President in six years’ time.

“It is just a matter of time. When I am done with my two terms as stipulated in the law, the only seat remaining is that of the country’s top leadership,” Dr Kidero said during the Westlands Women Roundtable annual meeting at the Kenya Teachers Technical Trainers College on Thursday, in Nairobi.

Dr Kidero also exuded confidence in retaining his gubernatorial seat come 2017 general election.

Several leaders have declared interest in the Nairobi City County top job.

Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Lawyer Miguna Miguna, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru are some of the leaders eyeing the seat.

“It is evident that many leaders want positions, but unfortunately some are just out to have them for their own benefit,” Kidero said.

The event was also attended by Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi, who expressed interest in becoming Nairobi governor in 2022.

“If Kidero will be going for the top seat, then I am presenting myself for the gubernatorial seat for 2022,” said Wanyonyi.
