Businessman Suleiman Shabal, who is viewed as the Jubilee front runner, has said he will not be cowed by his opponents.

The politician hit out at his main challengers and rivals, for what he termed as intimidation tactics and smear campaigns against him.

"My rivals have sensed defeat and because of this, they have resulted to using tactics aimed to cause distractions. We are focused and very ready to transform Mombasa. We will not be cowed,” said Shahbal.

Shabal said that the elections should be a contest between who is competent enough to transform the county.

"Mombasa needs a transformative leader who can create a robust environment for businesses growth so that jobs and economic benefits trickle down to the grassroots,” said Shabal.

He said the 2017 contest should not be characterised by politicking but by actions.

"We cant continue politicking as if all is well in Mombasa. The unemployment rate is very high amongst our youth. Our taps run dry occasionally and businesses are closing shop,” said Shahbal.
