President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked not to be dragged into political fights between Nairobi senator Mike Sonko and gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth.
The president said he was not going to impose any candidate on Nairobians during Jubilee Party's nominations but agreed to be an arbitrator for interested parties.
"I will not be drawn into Nairobi politics because what we want is to have a Jubilee governor," he said during Citizen TV interview on Monday.
"I am ready to be a broker for the different factions but if they stick to going to the primaries we will let them," he added.
Uhuru insisted that the Nairobi governor's seat will be clinched by Jubilee and that he had ful trust in the candidate that will be nominated in the primaries.
"The energy in Nairobi and other areas shows there is democracy in our party. [Let this be the case] until Jubilee supporters eventually make the final decision," Uhuru said.
The president was reacting to Sonko's allegations that there were plans to rig Kenneth to fly Jubilee's gubernatorial flag in the coming elections.
