Outgoing Taita Taveta county chief John Mruttu will not challenge Governor-elect Granton Samboja’s election in court.
Mruttu who spoke on Saturday in Taveta said he would instead join hands with his successor, work together and develop the county.“My friends have been telling me to go to court, but I have said no,” he noted.“I will work with the governor-elect in transforming the lives of our people.”Samboja, a first timer in politics beat political heavyweights Thomas Mwadeghu, Dan Mwazo and Mruttu during the August 8 general election with 40,764 votes.He ran on a Wiper party ticket after allegedly being forced out of the Jubilee Party to pave way for Mwazo.According to IEBC’s final tally, Samboja was followed by Mruttu who came second in the race with 23,967 votes.Mwazo (Jubilee Party) came third with 22,706 votes with Mwadeghu of ODM coming fourth with 20,436.
