As the push and pull over IEBC commissioners continue, the commission Chair Isaack Hassan has reiterated that he will not resign.
Speaking during a live interview on KTN on Wednesday, Hassan said that those who want them out of Anniversary Towers must give them a reason to resign.
"I will not resign. I will stand up to the rule of law. Resigning will mean an end to IEBC independence and that is why I will have to remain in the office to make the commission strong and independent," said Hassan.
The Chairman added that resigning will leave the country in an unprecedented crisis.
"This is not the time to ask the IEBC commissioners to resign. We need Kenyans' support and goodwill. We agree that we are not bigger than the country but we don't want to leave a crisis," he said.
He condemned Cord's anti-IEBC protests saying that that was not one of the ways to remove them from office. He, however, promised that they were working hard to address opposition's concerns.
Hassan also exuded confidence in his commission. "We have the most experienced and professional commissioners in this region who knows where errors occurred and how to go about them to avoid a repeat," added Hassan.
On chickengate scandal, Hassan said he only came to hear about it after getting a letter from the police investigations.
