Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has said that he will not leave Jubilee Party if he loses nominations for the county's gubernatorial seat.
According to the outspoken senator, Jubilee party will form the government after the 2017 general election.
While speaking on Sunday in Mlango Kubwa area of Mathare, Sonko stated that he will support any candidate who clinches the Jubilee gubernatorial ticket as one way of avoiding wrangles within the newly formed party.
"There are many positions in Jubilee, should I lose in the nominations, I will go to State House and get a job. We don't want internal wrangles. We should be able to defend each other against the opposition," said Sonko.
He further warned Jubilee Nairobi aspirants not gamble with the seat as this would give incumbent Evans Kidero an opportunity to be re-elected again during the next general election.
"We are very many people in Nairobi who are looking for the governorship seat. Let us not gamble over the position and allow Kidero to win again," he said.
Other Jubilee candidates who have declared interest in the seat include Dagoretti North MP Dennis Waweru, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and Water CS Eugene Wamalwa.
Earlier Sonko had hinted that he will quit Jubilee if he lost at the nominations.
