Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has told off the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet a day after he was ordered to record a statement on businessman Jacob Juma's murder.
Speaking during Juma's requiem mass at All Saints Cathedral on Thursday, Wetangula told the IG that Juma's killers are known and in the public domain.
"We advise Boinnet that Juma's tweets were a declaration that can be used as evidence to pursue the killers," said Wetangula.
"If he want us to record statements, then he is in the wrong business. We want the killers brought to book here and now," he added.
Cord Leader Raila Odinga also came to Wetangula's defence saying that they will not record any statement with the Police while terming Juma's murder as 'extra-judicial'.
"The IG has the impudence to ask Wetangula and I to record statements. He can tell that to the birds because he knows who killed Juma," Raila said.
He said that Juma would be the last to be assassinated in Kenya under their (Cord) watch.
"The hit squad that killed Juma is known and we will not allow Kenya to be led by thieves and murderers because we value lives," Raila added.
There was a scheduled public viewing of Juma's body at Uhuru Park before the burial on Saturday in his home in Bungoma.
