Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has declined to withdraw remarks he made, claiming the position of the acting President of Kenya.

The controversial Senator maintained the link cited by Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) office of him allegedly making potentially treasonable remarks was edited and committed he will provide raw footage on actual remarks. He said his utterances were altered in the clip to depict his social, political and influence based position as challenging the presidency. 

“I uphold my sworn oath to respect the Presidency and urge my fellow political leaders, regardless of their divide, to respect the same. I hereby decline to withdraw my statement based on my innocent comments, honesty and loyalty to the CIC Hon Uhuru M Kenyatta. Following the allegations, I was bowled over by the declaration by our DPP, my friend Keriako Tobiko, to investigate and question me," he told People Daily on Sunday. 

DPP Keriako Tobiko has already ordered the police to immediately interrogate the Senator in respect to both his conduct and utterances on Friday at the funeral of former assistant minister Wavinya Ndeti’s husband. 

In a letter copied to Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro, Tobiko provided online links where police can view the footage.
