Uasin Gishu Women Representative Jubilee party nominee Gladys Boss Shollei has dismissed civil society groups recommendations that she be blocked from the August polls due to integrity issues.
Shollei says she has not been convicted of any crimes in a court of law hence nobody can bar her from participating in the general elections.
"The law is very clear on the integrity issues as a person can only be barred from public office if he/she has been convicted in a court of law and exhausted all appeals avenue," Shollei told the press at the Kenmosa village in Eldoret town, Friday.
"I am a lawyer, I know our laws very well having taught law in a top university for ten years, you think I would vie for a political seat if I knew I am not fit to hold a public office," posed Shollei.
The National Integrity Alliance on Wednesday listed 20 politicians among them Shollei whom they want Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the Chapter Six Working Group to bar from vying elective positions in the upcoming general elections due to integrity issues.
Shollei, a former chief registrar of the Judiciary, was recently charged afresh with abuse of office for failing to comply with the law relating to procurement.
