Speaking today in an interview in one of the local TV stations, Ichung’wa asserted that there is need to send more troops especially from the army to guard the boundaries.

“The north eastern region has been an easy prey to most terrorist attacks because of the proximity to Somalia. We therefore need to take a step and secure our borders and assure residents of their security. The army should be deployed to stop the killings forthwith,” he charged.

His sentiments came barely hours after more than ten soldiers were killed this morning in Garissa when suspected Al Shabaab militia men ambushed the soldiers in what is thought to be a retaliatory attack.

In addition, he criticised Kiambu County governance terming it as high handed and dictatorial.

“All leaders should have been consulted as well as get some opinion from the public before buying those 72 cars for ward administrators. This is an added burden to tax payers. They lied to the public that these cars will even be used to take the sick to hospitals. We have the ambulances that were bought and the same was promised but they now have to pay Sh3,000 for such services,” Ichung’wa said.

He called for transparency and accountability from leaders while rolling out development projects and shun corruption at all levels.
