Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa, has called for the immediate sacking of the Chief of Staff of the Kenya Defence Forces General Julius Karangi for failing to prevent terror attacks in the country.
Speaking at Kikuyu town on Thursday, Ichungwa said that Karangi has failed to protect Kenyans and thus must be shown the door.
He argued that the country is now more exposed to terror attacks compared to the time before the incursion of KDF into Somalia.
“The time has finally come for Karangi to go home just like the others for failing to protect the country from persistent attacks,” he said.
The MP wondered why the KDF are in Somalia yet Kenyans are being killed by the Al Shabaab militia within the country´s borders adding that the military´s mission in Somalia failed a long time ago.
“KDF should instead be deployed to guard Kenya´s porous borders which are being used by the militia groups as entry points in the execution of their attacks,” Ichungwa said.
The MP further called for cohesion between the police and intelligence agencies alleging that some of them seem not to be operating from the same page.
“The top security organs in the country must work together to protect Kenyans and I fear the country could face more attacks if there is no unity in these agencies,” he added.
The legislator at the same time called for a speedy recruitment of the Inspector of General of Police to replace David Kimaiyo.
