The Jubilee legislator who was speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday said there was a deliberate ploy by some known NGOs to influence the 2017 polls in favour of the opposition claiming the groups had pumped, questionably a lot of money into the upcoming elections.

"The Cord team are not ready for elections in 2017 and are creating hurdles to get to leadership. That is what they are being funded to do so by some foreign governments," Ichungwa said.

"Look at how much money these organisations have pumped into the elections in the past three years and what they have pumped in this particular year in the run up to 2017 elections. The figure has risen from Sh4 million to Sh13 million. This is deliberately designed to help influence the outcome of the poll results," he stated.

Ichung'wa also assured that the move to deregister the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) was not due to pressure from Jubilee but because they were involved in illegal dealings and more companies will also follow suit in the coming months.

"Michael Yard and IFES  were not victims because Jubilee MPs singled them out, but the fact that they were singled out tells you there was something fishy," he added.

"The NGO board is working on a process and all the other IFES has been working with will be brought to book because they are known," he added.
