Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa has defended the National Assembly’s move to reject Monica Juma who had been nominated for the position of Secretary to the Cabinet

Speaking to journalists at Kikuyu town on Monday, Ichungwa said that the rejection of Juma was based on evidence of her previous ‘insubordination’.

Ichungwa further defended the National Assembly against claims of malice and ill acts.

“The National Assembly has done nothing wrong in rejecting Monica Juma as the Secretary to the Cabinet nominee. What we did was based on the report presented to the House by the Parliamentary Committee that investigated her,” he said.

Ichungwa said that the decision of MPs or the House to approve someone for a leadership position is based on parliamentary investigations and probing.

The Kikuyu MP said that the House could not approve someone who they feel was not right for the position.

Juma’s nomination to the position of Secretary to the Cabinet suffered a blow after the MPs rejected.

The MPs in a report presented to parliament accused the nominee of belittling them in a letter she is said to have written asking the MPs to stop asking for favours through her office when she was Internal Security Permanent Secretary.
