Kikuyu residents have a reason to smile after the area MP disbursed seedlings and fertilisers to them on Thursday as a way of enhancing the sustainable food production programme.
which the MP say that it will raise their living standards as well as ensuring they have food supply all through.
Kimani wa Ichungwa, the area legislator, revealed that plans were underway to launch the water provision services through boreholes and dams in the area to ensure residents are able to cope with drought in the vulnerable areas of the constituency.
Kimani said that he has already met with Agriculture CS Felix Kosgei and set strategies for the introduction of the boreholes as the first priority for those affected by shortage of rains.
The lawmaker called on the area residents to support the development projects he is initiating in the constituency, saying that in most areas of the Kiambu County, MPs are facing opposition in the development projects they intend to bring to the people as they are being politicised by unnamed people.
“Please support me in these programmes as you can see my brother Kigo Njenga has faced opposition in the introduction of the dam in his Gatundu North area as people have problems yet they are incited to reject the project,” Ichungwa said.
He vowed to support the residents in the fight against drought and famine in Kikuyu.
