Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has revealed that plans are underway to expand the Nachu Dam in the area into a more productive site and tourist attraction.
The legislator who toured the prospective dam and water pan sites in Karai and Nachu Wards on Thursday said that the location is suitable for the constituency and Kiambu County to make an extra coin in terms of economic activity.
Ichung’wa who was accompanied engineers from the Kenya Irrigation Board (KIB) said that plans are ongoing in making the site a tourist attraction by expanding it into more resourceful and money harvesting region.
He said that they are still in negotiation whether to be a fishing site or sports center and soon the project will kick off to transform the county of Kiambu.
“We are still in discussion on whether to make the dam a fishing location or aquatic sports centre which will benefit the people of Kikuyu and Kiambu in general,” said the MP
He added that his aim was to transform Kikuyu, Kiambu and Kenya’s challenging life in terms of employment which he is sure the dam will bring about change.
The lawmaker said that Kikuyu residents should not be fooled by empty leaders at the county government but focus on developing and establishing their own business oriented ideas.
Ichung’wa called on investors to invest in the most promising dam in Kiambu which will soon bear fruit and create employment to the people of Kikuyu and Kiambu.
