Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa has accused two 'powerful people' in the Jubilee government who are reportedly hell-bent on sabotaging the Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking on Friday, the vocal MP named a Cabinet Secretary, a Permanent Secretary and those ‘who took Ruto to ICC’ as the people behind quiet anti-Ruto campaigns.
Ruto has announced his intention to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
“We will not be intimidated by the forces that are running anti-Ruto schemes calling us tanga tanga and sending young men to insult us online. Whether you are a CS or a PS, we don’t fear you,” Ichung’wa said.
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has in the past accused Interior PS Karancha Kibicho of secretly running an anti-Ruto campaign.
Kibicho, however, dismissed the claims.
Ichung’wa also claimed that the same people who ‘fixed’ Ruto to the International Criminal Court (ICC) are the same people working to sabotage his 2022 bid.
