Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has opened 5 classrooms at Nderi Primary School in Kikuyu.
The classes which were built using the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) were meant to ease pressure on the few classes at the school.
Ichung’wa said that he will ensure that the education sector is well facilitated.
"When pupils are congested in a class, it's even difficult for teaching. With these classes we expect it's going to create room even for teachers to be effective,’’ said Ichung’wa.
He said that the issue of pupils congesting in one class was a major challenge to most public schools and it even affected their performances.
The school’s headteacher Mercy Ngina said that the classrooms were a relief to pupils. She said that in one class they could accommodate 80 pupils which was a very large number for one teacher to handle.
