Kikuyu Member of Parliament has asked for intensified security for him and his family after he received threat over his life.
Ichung'wa told the house on Wednesday that a politician from Kiambu that he refrained from naming is using the illegal Mungiki sect to cause unrest for dissatisfaction on next year's general election.
He spoke hours after his gardener was seriously injured by the militia sect in a botched kidnap where he escaped narrowly sustaining serious injuries.
"I have been receiving threats from an illegal militia sect, Mungiki and the person behind all this is a politician from Kiambu for fear of the outcome of the results in 2017 general election. One of my servants was seriously injured and is nursing serious injuries after escaping from the sect. I want to ask for security since Mungiki sect is back when Kiambu has lost prominent politicians like George Muchai, George Thuo and others," said Ichung'wa.
The chair of the Parliamentary committee on security, Asman Kamama confirmed the illegal sect is back in Kiambu and Nakuru counties.
"We have received a report that Mungiki sect is back in Kiambu and Nakuru counties and we want the intervention of Mr Boinett and his team," said the Tiati MP.
The speaker said he will forward the matter to the Inspector General, Joseph Boinett.
