Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has urged those aspiring to be MCAs in the Sub-County to conduct peaceful campaigns.
This is after a number of aspirants in the area raised their concerns over a matter where an aspirant was attacked in Kijabe.
Speaking at the Thogoto Orthodox Church during a chapati forum organised for the elderly people in the area by Joshua Njuguna locally known as Wa Mukawa, Ichung’wa urged the aspirants to conduct their campaigns peacefully.
“We should conduct our campaigns in a peaceful manner. Let us not attack one another and provoke hatred,” the lawmaker said on Saturday’s event.
The legislator encouraged over the ten aspirants from different wards in Kikuyu- Sub County to continue with their peaceful campaigns as the general elections nears.
In the event where more than a hundred elderly people had gathered, Njuguna urged his fellow colleagues to respect one another.
“We discourage such attacks such as the recent one done to one of us in Kijabe where he was attacked with sulphuric acid. I would urge my fellow aspirants to remain united even as we near to the general elections,” he said.
This comes barely a week after Alex Muhoro was attacked by suspected rivals.
