Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has urged the National Government to deploy more police officers in Kiambu County to curb rising cases of crime.
Ichungwa told journalists on Friday that the government must beef security in the area due to rampant insecurity cases.
The MP said the government has the machinery which it should use to protect Kenyans and their property.
“Most Kikuyu residents and Kiambu County as whole are living in fear due to high cases of insecurity in the county. The government must boost surveillance,” said Ichung'wa.
Ichung'wa urged the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet, to help improve security in Kiambu County.
He asked the IG to put in place measures that will improve security of all Kenyans across the country.
Meanwhile, Ichung'wa wants youths in the constituency to be ambassadors of peace and unity.
He said that young people should take the responsibility of preaching peace message.
Ichung'wa added that plans are in place to start campaigns that will sensitize Kikuyu locals on the need of peace.
He said that peace is needed for any kind of development to be realised. He called upon other county leaders in the constituency to help to preach unity.
