Acting Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet have been urged to enhance the security of Members of Parliament. According to Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa majority of the newly-elected legislators were yet to be allocated with security details, two months since they were elected. "Am requesting the Government to provide members with bodyguards so they can go about their duties without fearing for their lives," he said. Speaking when contributing to the Supplementary Appropriation Bill on Thursday, Ichung'wa said the MPs required security as the ongoing anti-IEBC mass protests posed a threat to them. "Protesters have been passing outside Parliament making it dangerous for the members to be without security," he added.
