A senior lawyer for the ODM party, who spoke in confidence, said the two would have their talks revolve on democratisation of African countries.

On Friday, a day after meeting retired President Daniel Moi, Raila flew to South Africa for Winnie's funeral and was seen putting on a presidential badge, raising eye brows on his new role in government.

"He will jet back on Monday but just before that, he will be meeting Ramaphosa for a private meeting.

"The meeting will revolve around democracy and the economy of the continent. Both are statesmen and expect perhaps instability in countries like Somalia to feature," said the official.

Besides being business partners, the two are respected Pan-Africanists and have publicly been seen together especially during political turmoil in Kenya.

Days before the October repeat polls in Kenya, the two reportedly met in Zanzibar for another private meeting. Two months later Ramaphosa would take over leadership mantle in South Africa.

Quite predictably, Raila was pictured with Deputy President David Mabuza and powerful minister Lindiwe Sisulu before Ms Mandela's funeral.
