ICPAK Chairman Benson Okundi says the investigations into the bribery claims should be done by an independent body.

He says chances are that even the investigating body carrying out the probe now may be compromised adding that it should be done by a different body.

Okundi says ICPAK is deeply concerned with the claims of bribery in parliament especially in the PAC which is a key committee.

Speaking in Kisumu on Friday, Okundi says parliament is the highest level of governance in the country adding that concerns of compromise in the committees are worrying to the public.

He says PAC is very significant since it works closely with the Auditor General’s office adding that the moment PAC is compromised then their oversight role is eroded.

Okundi says the investigations in the saga must be completed quickly and action taken to individual members found culpable to restore public confidence on such key institutions.

He proposed that PAC members who are members of professional bodies like LSK and ICPAK should be deregistered as members and disciplinary action taken on them if found guilty.
