ODM leader Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga now wants Nyanza residents to choose candidates of their choice contrary to Mr. Odinga’s earlier directive.
In his tours to the home turf in recent weeks, Odinga has been advocating for infamous six piece voting style which has not gone down well with independent candidates.
But on Thursday, Ms Odinga said Kenyans should be allowed t choice leaders whom they dim fit to serve them for the next couple of years.
“I want to urge the ODM party to allow people chose candidates of their choice. This is about service delivery and not party politics,” said Ms Odinga in a move that could affect ODM’s support base.
She added: “I only want you to be keen on presidency because we have seen the current regime struggle. Everyone is at liberty to choose a leader of his choice.”
Anxiety has gripped the ODM party following mass exodus of party aspirants who accused party officials of rigging them out during primaries.
In Nyanza, notable casualties include Nicholas Gumbo, Ochillo Ayacko, Jack Ranguma and a host of MP aspirants.
