Cord leader Raila Amolo Odinga’s wife, Ida, has exuded confidence that the opposition leader will ascend to power in the forthcoming general election.
Speaking at his Karen home before Raila was cleared to contest for the nation’s top seat, Ida said that time has come for Raila’s presidency.
“I am happy about today. It is a significant day in the lives of Kenyans and also in our lives as a family. It has never been brighter than it is today. This is the time”, she said as quoted by Standard.
On his part, Raila also reiterated his wife’s remarks saying that he will defeat the current president in the August General polls.
“I am more confident now than ever before. We as the NASA family have prepared for this and we are going for victory in August,” Raila told the media.
The former prime minister also expressed concern over the use of state resource during the campaign period.
He noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have been using public officials to campaign for them, which he termed unacceptable.
“On behalf of our supporters, we would like to express our serious concerns about the use of State resources to intimidate and interfere with the campaigns,’ he added.
