The wife of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga Ida Odinga has broken her silence on her relationship with First Lady Margaret Kenyatta as well as Racheal Ruto, the wife of Deputy President William Ruto.
Ida who spoke to Sunday Nation during celebrations to mark the world's Mothers Day said she does not have anything personal with the two women despite the political differences their respective husbands, Raila, President Kenyatta, and Ruto have.
"Let me tell you something, there has never been anything between me and Margaret or me and Rachel. We may not see each other every day but we are friends. When we meet we hug. But the politics has only separated us," she said during the interview at her Spectre East Africa offices in Nairobi.
"Never inherit your husband’s political enemies, inherit their friends. When you are thinking that this is a political enemy, they have already shaken hands, leaving you with an egg on your face," she added.
She said it does not reward at all to have enemies calling on Kenyans to embrace one another and ensure peace and cohesion prevails in the country.
Ida is considered one of Raila's principal advisers and she revealed that before the opposition chief makes critical political decisions, he always consults her.
