Ida who went to the podium alongside nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro, ODM Deputy Organising Secretary Rosa Buyu and Nyamunga had harsh words to those who were heckling the Kisumu women representative.

“It is shameful to see women heckling other women in such forums, especially you wearing ODM caps. I was invited here just like any other leader, it is disrespectful to sit down and just listen to booing by a section of the crowd. How will you feel if the same happened to you?” she posed.

Ida told the section of the crowd that it is them who voted Nyamunga to that position and until 2017, she was the Kisumu Women Representative who should be respected.

She termed the incident an embarrassment to Raila Odinga and to women in Nyanza.

“We are a fortunate region who have had women elected leaders such as Grace Ogot, Phoebe Asiyo and Millie Odhiambo. The number of women elected leaders from Nyanza is low because of such kind of attitude. You must change for you to be elected,” she said.

She urged women to support each others leadership and not be enemies instead and that it is only through that, that they will not rely on the mercies of getting opportunities in nominations by political parties or for special groups.

She said she will work on uniting all women leaders.
