Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga has urged women who are chosen for political leadership to come out strongly and compete with men so that they can be elected without necessarily having to be nominated.
She said this when she met team Nasa Nairobi at the Kilimani Primary School.
Led by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, the meeting was called to solidify the gender agenda in Nasa, especially for women in Nairobi.
Team Nasa unveiled a 1 million vote hunt to cement the opposition’s quest to take leadership from the Jubilee government and also help Kidero get a re-election.
The group, which comprised of various aspirants among them incumbents vowed to continue visiting various parts to continue campaigning for Nasa.
“These ladies you see here wametokezea in order to ensure Raila Odinga shall take the leadership of this country,” said Kidero.
Nairobi Women rep aspirant with the ODM party Esther Passaris drummed support, urging Rehab Ndambuki to step down for her.
“When you have a race, you take the strongest horse in order to race with the rest. And there is no one who will battle with Shebesh other than me,” said Passaris.
“If we had passed the Gender Bill, we could not be fighting for once seat, in the next parliament, first thing, the Gender Bill must be passed,” said Odinga.
