Young women have been advised against abdicating their traditional roles.
According to Ida Odinga, the girls, better known as 'slayqueens', have refused to learn basic roles which are primarily women, in result failing to raise families once they get married.
She challenged the young women to acquire simple skills such as cooking various types of foods, noting that will help them become better wives.
"Young girls of today don't want to follow in their mothers' footsteps. Most of them don't like cooking, for example. Suddenly, they find themselves in marriages yet they can't prepare food for their husbands or children. What follows? Divorce, obviously," Ida said.
In an interview with the Nation, the wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga further urged the women not to rush to say 'I do' before they cultivate virtues of love, trust, and commitment while in relationships.
"These days young girls enjoy the idea of a grand wedding but as you say your vows, you should internalise their meaning. In sickness or in health; in good times or bad times. Can you stand by those words in the worst of times?" she posed.
Ida has been married to Raila for 44 years and together they have been blessed with four children.
