The IDPS argued that they have been living in starvation for the last six months, as the rains had failed.

Speaking to the press at Pipeline IDP camp, they noted that they did not have any menial jobs to earn a living from, and they have nothing to celebrate as they were already dying of hunger

“More than ten people have died in various IDP camps since December. We only wish we had something to eat,” said Grace Waweru, an IDP.

She claimed that majority of the IDPs could also not travel to their ancestral homes, since they were separated from their parents after the post election violence.

“We do not have anyone to visit and we are only relying on well wishers to come and make our celebrations lively,” she added

Joseph Njunguna appealed to the fast tracking of the resettlement process, saying that this was the seventh year they will celebrate Easter in the camps

“Our relatives shunned us as soon as we started living in the camps and we have nowhere to turn to,” he added.
