Kenya’s Internally Displaced Persons are asking the government to fast track their resettlement and compensation before this year's general election.
Chairperson Peter Tena has faulted officers tasked with managing the compensation program, saying they have been colluding with IDP representatives to divert their funds.
Despite the government showing intent to resettle internally displaced persons in the country, several groups of IDP’S have on several occasions raised concerns over delayed disbursement of funds earmarked for their compensation.
The Internally Displaced Persons Organisation is now blaming the government for failing to deliver on its promise.
Tena has challenged the government to apprehend the perpetrators diverting funds meant for IDPs.
