A group of IDPs marching to State House was on Wednesday morning dispersed by police who reportedly beat them up.
The group had camped at Uhuru Park before walking to State House where they wanted to petition President Uhuru Kenyatta for compensation.
They lamented that despite the government making promises to them, they have not yet received any payments.
However, police reportedly came in and forced them back to Uhuru Park.
According to the Star, police officers have been instructed to guard the group at the recreational facility but bar them from accessing the State House.
In February this year, IDPs from across the country united in seeking compensation from the government saying that their 10-year wait for compensation was not tenable anymore.
Led by Nyanza IDPs Network coordinator Nelson Owegi, the group said they wanted President Kenyatta to intervene and help them out.
