The 2007/2008 victims who were displaced, on the other hand, have said that there is nothing for the government to celebrate since justice has not prevailed and the victims are suffering the losses they incurred during the post-election chaos of the 2007/8 .

Jared Oroo, who during the violence was in Kericho, now resides in Kibera and said that during the chaos, he lost his wife and child as well as property worth sh500,000 and now he is going through hell languishing in poverty.

“I do not agree with the Jubilee government celebrating the ICC cases collapse. I still remember how I underwent a hard time when I lost my wife and child and all my property. Now the leaders who caused all that are set to celebrate, whereas, IDPs have not been fully compensated. The government should look for a way to compensate and settle those who were displaced during the chaos,” said Oroo.

Another IDP, Mary Wangeci was displaced from Eldoret during the violence and said that she lost all her property and until today she does not know where her husband is.

“I am saddened with the current government. All they can afford to do is celebrate while we are suffering. Many people were tortured during the chaos but God has stood by them,” said Wangeci.

“The leaders have neglected us without any sign of compensation for what we underwent during the 2007/2008 post-election chaos. It is 8 years now yet nothing has been done and people are calling this justice. As the Jubilee government is set to celebrate the collapse of ICC cases, they should also remember us as victims who are suffering since 2007,’’ stated Anne Njeri, another IDP.
