The country set out to pay the IDPs countrywide in order to have the people get a place where they can stay and build their lives again.

However, IDPs in Nyanza region have come out to say they will snub the forthcoming elections if they are not paid.

The IDPs network chairman for Nyanza, Nelson Owegi said the government has failed to assist the people of Nyanza

He added that IDPs from other parts of the country had been compensated and could not understand why those from Nyanza were left out.

"The IDPs from Nyanza are mainly in Luo Nyanza and Nyamira," he said.

"These people were chased from PNU strongholds such as Naivasha and Nakuru. We cannot understand why the government is taking long to compensate us while other IDPs in the country have already been compensated."

Owegi added that they have written to Kisumu County Commissioner John Elung'ata to have him intervene in the issue and help the IDPs get the money promised by the government.
