The 2007/08 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have asked the ICC dismiss the case against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang.

This is after claiming that the communities who were fighting have reconciled and there is no need for the case to proceed.

Led by the Kenya Peace and Reconciliation Director Stephen Mbugua, the IDPs say the country is not at war and subjecting other people to prosecution derails peace.

Speaking in Eldoret on Monday, the IDPS claimed that the violence rocked parts of the country and it will not be fair for one community to be victimised.

The IDPS pointed out that they are in the final stages preparing their letter to hand to the Attorney General to compel the ICC terminate the case facing the two Kenyans.

“The violence that occurred in this country in 2007/08 was a countrywide disaster. People lost lives and the victims have reconciled and targeting one community is unfair,” said Mbugua.

At the same time the IDPS have cautioned the opposition for failing to respect the government claiming that the opposition is spreading hate speech and fails to respect the presidency.

“The opposition should be careful when they are addressing the public some leaders are underrate our leaders and this could lead us to chaos like what occurred in 2007/08,” added Mbugua.
