[Photo/thebigissue.co.ke]Just a day after meeting presidential candidates and their agents at the Hilton Hotel, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appealed the Friday High Court ruling which nullified the printing of presidential ballot papers by Dubai-based firm Al Ghurair.
The meeting at Hilton was meant to bring up solutions on the way forward after the High Court ruling, however, IEBC latest move to appeal states clearly that the Monday's meeting did not yield any positives.
IEBC is also seeking an order stopping the implementation of the judgment until its appeal is heard and determined.
The cancellation of the tender to print ballot papers by Al Ghurair came in after the opposition NASA filed a case questioning President Uhuru Kenyatta's close ties with the printing firm, terming it as a loophole to rig in the August 8, polls. They also questioned the lack of public participation on the matter.
Jubilee Party through the Parliament Majority leaderAden Duale has also said they will appeal the High Court verdict on public participation in presidential ballot tender.
