Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamita and governance expert Ken Kambona have stated that Kenya will hold fresh presidential polls in the coming months.
Nyamita while addressing the press on Thursday stated that the current election boycott by the NASA supporters in most parts of the country indicates that the poll was a jubilee affair and not an election for all Kenyans.
“This was just a nomination exercise for the Jubilee candidate, fresh polls will definitely be held in three months’ time,” Nyamita said.
Kambona, however, stated during an interview today that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will have to organize for fresh polls.
“From the statistics, we’re seeing, it is evident that more than a half of the country have not voted and will not recognize whoever is declared president.” He said.
NASA principle Raila Odinga had earlier warned his supporters to boycott the election after withdrawing his candidature from the exercise saying the electoral body IEBC cannot grant a credible election.
He had called for reforms within IEBC but vowed not to participate in the election after the reforms he suggested and called, the irreducible minimums were not effected by the electoral body.
