The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has invited presidential candidates for a consultative forum on election preparedness.
The invitation comes a day after the commission held talks with 12 foreign envoys, led by US Ambassador Robert Godec and Britain’s Deputy High Commissioner Susie Kitchens.
The envoys asked the political class to respect the independence of the poll agency even as they urged it to be firm.
"We look forward to meeting with the presidential candidates today. We hope to create a common understanding on the 26th October poll," reads a tweet by @IEBCKenya.
IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati had following the collapse of talks between representatives of the Jubilee Party, National Super Alliance and the commission on Thursday last week said he would want to engage directly with the principals of the two political formations blaming its foot soldiers of grandstanding.
