During a press conference on Wednesday the institution that manages elections stated that the tender that had been awarded to a French company was no longer in play.

In a letter written by IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba on behalf of the organisation, various reasons were listed to explain the unexpected decision.

The letter stated that time, budgetary constraints and law stipulations were the major reasons as to which the deal fell through.

According to Ezra Chiloba, legal wars and litigations contributed to the loss of time that could be invested towards fast tracking the acquirement of these equipment.

The organisation also pointed out that the remaining time to the deadline which is April 10th was not enough to secure and put to use the required equipment.

IEBC chairman stated that technology was also a major factor to the decision and claimed that there has been a major technology change.

He also said that there would be no value for money if the components were retained and that not enough money had been allocated towards the equipment.
