Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has criticised the Jubilee administration of failing to implement the decision by Parliament to have the IEBC commissioners vacate office.
Khalwale insisted that the commissioners were illegally in office and was shocked why they were allowed to procure election materials for the 2017 elections.
"My concern is the issue of implementation of a decision made by both the Parliament and Senate by the Executive. They were told that IEBC was gone, our committee said it, the National Assembly concurred. The balance of events was that the executive would also do the same," he told NTV's AMLive show.
"These commissioners are not commissioners anymore. Any procurement done by them therefore should not be allowed," he added.
The Kakamega Senator also alleged that the IEBC officials were intentionally left in office to advance the interest of the Jubilee-led government ahead of the 2017 elections.
"Why the executive has not gone and locked the doors of the IEBC commissioners is not understood," he said.
"It can only points to one thing, Jubilee wants them to stay in office to advance their agenda," he added.
