The vacancies of IEBC chairperson and IEBC members were declared vacant in a special Kenya Gazette in a special Kenya Gazette notice on Thursday.

State House spokesman Manoah Esipisu said that it's now time for the Parliamentary Service Commission to send names of 9 nominees to the selection panel for appointment.

Outgoing IEBC chairman Isaac Hassan led his team vice chairperson Lilian Mahiri-Zaja, Thomas Letangule, Muthoni Wangai and Mohamed Alwai, Abdullahi Sharawe, Yusuf Nzibo, Kule Galma and Albert Bwire to resign from office to pave way for new IEBC team to be appointed.

Esipisu said that there will be no constitutional crisis since the IEBC commissioners said that they will be in office to prevent power vacuum until a team is appointed to take over.
