Senate majority leader Kindiki Kithure has particularly urged the individual commissioners to consider their resignation as an act of patriotism and not accepting culpability.

The majority leader has, however, maintained that the commissioners willing to defend their innocence will be given the opportunity to do so by joint committee spearheading the electoral reforms talks.

Up until now, four IEBC commissioners, Yusuf Nzibo, Abdullahi Sharawe, Albert Bwire and Kule Galma Godana already sent their resignation letters to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On the other hand, several other commissioners have insisted that they will not leave amid the political pressure. The commissioners say by doing so, they will have accepted culpability and yet they are not guilty of anything.

Negotiators from Cord and Jubilee are also set to talk over clean up of the election register, a possible role for political parties in picking the new iebc team and enhancement of the system for the electronic transmission of votes.
