IEBC has confirmed that there were several attempts to hack into its IT system on August 8 during the general election.

The body has however maintained that the hackers efforts were futile.

Prof Abdi Yakub Guliye speaking on Wednesday night noted that during an audit of the system, they discovered several attempts to illegally penetrate the system.

"Yes, there were attempts by people trying to hack, to gain access but that never happened," Guliye said.

He made the remarks after the opposition NASA claimed that the system was hacked where results were manipulated.

IEBC has since dismissed the claims.
