Mr Hassan Noor, who was vying for the gubernatorial seat in Mandera County rejected the results of the General Elections claiming that the results were interfered with in favour of the incumbent.
Mr Roba however thanked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for delivering a peaceful and successful credible election.
“The electoral body did a wonderful job. The elections were peaceful and similarly the process of counting the votes at the polling stations was done in a transparent manner,” he said.
The governor further thanked the security personnel and other stakeholders for ensuring that the voting process was peaceful and successful in the region.
“I also thank other stakeholders for ensuring democratic election process which shows Mandera is mature and ready for competitive politics,” said Mr Roba.
Mr Noor who was vying on the Economic Freedom Party lost to the incumbent, Mr Roba who garnered 67,470 votes againt Mr Noor’s 57,937.
